FIVE ELEMENT ACUPUNCTURE FOR ANXIETY

FIVE ELEMENT ACUPUNCTURE FOR ANXIETY

CAN ACUPUNCTURE HELP ANXIETY?

Largely our bodies do an amazing job of self-regulating and healing themselves.  However, it can happen, that if we are exposed to unhealthy internal or external conditions, we can get thrown off balance.  Clients seek out five element acupuncture for anxiety as a way of staying calm and resilient in the face of life’s uncertainties and challenges.

When the subtle energy, the qi, in your body starts to flow in counterproductive ways, it can have a systemic negative impact on your body, often leading to anxiety, depression, and all manner of imbalances or physical challenges. As we gain self-mastery, we learn to avoid toxic chemicals, toxic emotions, or toxic relationships.  But let’s face it, it can be hard at times to find our footing and to keep our balance, especially so coming out of the pandemic.

A key point I’d like to stress is that: healthy living, whether through a healthy diet or a healthy outlook, actively works to protect the health of your vital organs. This is of the utmost importance.  The reason why is that your vital organs form an intelligent network that promotes and animates your well-being in mind, body, and spirit.  This insight was first made by early Chinese medicine practitioners more than 2 millennia ago.  I experience the truth of this every day in my acupuncture clinic in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.

While I’m often asked what does five element acupuncture treat? And while there are of course many ways to approach this question, a real starting place is that acupuncture treats the health of your vital organs.  If one is looking for equanimity in the face of a complex, difficult, and ever-changing world, I can’t think of a better place to start than balancing and harmonizing the subtle energy being shared by the meridian-organ network in your body.

The organs, we all know, have mission-critical physical responsibilities: oxygenating the cells via the bloodstream, circulating the blood, filtering toxins, removing waste, and so on. But few realize that the organs play a critical role in harmonizing the emotions, and promoting the virtues that help us live our best lives - integrity, balance, vision, wisdom, and serenity - just to name a few. This is a profound realization that our acupuncture ancestors have passed on to us.

Acupuncture for Anxiety: Feeling Calm, Relaxed, and in Control

As a reminder: you are not here to be frustrated, anxious, stagnant, or depressed. You’re here to celebrate and enjoy the miracle that is your life - and help others to do the same! You’re here to realize your own unique truths and purpose in this world, and to share your gifts with the world.  It’s a big responsibility; but consider the alternative: to be an unhappy cog in the wheel of an advanced capitalist society.  The stakes are high.

As a licensed acupuncturist in Williamsburg, Brooklyn with a busy practice, what is perhaps most rewarding, day after day, is seeing clients regain their sense of peace, stability, purpose, and joy through acupuncture treatment.  As much as I enjoy witnessing the benefits of acupuncture for back pain or acupuncture for women’s health, for me, there is no greater reward than seeing a person come back to life - to their unique and original self – regaining their center and rediscovering a way to move their life forward.

IN SUMMARY

From a western medical perspective, the general view is that largely it is our brain that is running the show. However, from the perspective of Chinese medicine, the vital organs have deep intelligence and form an intelligent network that contributes to our overall well-being, and gives us the emotional resources to move through the natural stages of our lives with ease.

Through acupuncture, and the regulation of qi circulating through the meridian-organ network, clients gain emotional stability, equanimity, and resiliency to both face and overcome life’s challenges.
